Create your first portal
For the first run, start Claude, run/portal-onboard, and follow the guided flow.
Before you start
Run npx showpane once if you do not have a workspace yet. This guide assumes the workspace already exists.
Start command
showpane claudeIf that command is not available yet in your shell, use npx showpane claude.
Recommended first-run flow
Use the guided path instead of starting from a blank prompt.
- Open Claude in your Showpane workspace with `showpane claude`.
- Run `/portal-onboard` for the guided first-portal flow.
- Let the wizard help you choose the source, shape a first draft, and preview it locally.
- Keep the generated credentials handy, publish to Showpane Cloud when the draft is ready, and generate a share link only if you want direct hosted access after publish.
Recommended command inside Claude
/portal-onboard
Manual prompt examples
Use these when you want the non-wizard path.
Example 1
Create a portal for my client Acme based on my call transcript, which is here: [paste it]
Example 2
Create a portal for my client Acme based on my call from earlier today. Use the Granola MCP to grab the transcript.
Paste the transcript directly
Use this when you already have the transcript or notes.
Use the Granola MCP
Use this when Claude can pull the meeting transcript for you.
What a good first portal includes
- Summary that gives the client a fast, clear read on what happened and what matters.
- Next steps with owners or sequencing so the client knows what happens after the meeting.
- Supporting documents that keep proposals, notes, or files in one place.
- Clear client-facing framing so the portal feels written for the client, not copied from internal notes.
- Optional timeline when dates, milestones, or phased delivery are part of the conversation.
Common mistakes
- Using vague client naming instead of clearly naming the client in the prompt.
- Leaving out where the transcript came from, which makes the source material feel ambiguous.
- Asking for a portal with too little meeting detail for Claude to shape a useful first draft.
